"Why me?" "Did I do something wrong?" In our clinic, we often hear these questions from patients. Living with Vitiligo or Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) is not just a physical challenge; it often brings significant emotional stress and self-doubt.
We believe that treating skin conditions requires more than just medication—it requires holistic understanding and care. Therefore, we are delighted to invite you to our upcoming event on Saturday, December 20th: "The Skin Health Diary: Understanding Vitiligo and Atopic Dermatitis with Gentleness."
Led by our Center Director, Dr. Chau Yee Ng, MD, PhD, alongside Dr. Lai-Ying Lu and Psychologist Ms. Chi Wang, this session aims to bridge the gap between advanced medical science and emotional wellness.
Part 1. Vitiligo: Myths, Mechanisms, and New Treatments
Speaker: Dr. Chau Yee Ng, MD, PhD
Vitiligo is not your fault. It is a complex interplay of genetics, the immune system, oxidative stress, and environmental factors—a signal from your body. Dr. Ng will guide you through:
The Root Causes: Understanding how immune responses affect fragile melanocytes.
Advanced Treatments: An update on the latest therapies, including JAK inhibitors, novel topical agents, phototherapy, and pigment transplantation techniques for stable conditions.
Lifestyle Management: Practical tips to stabilize the condition and prevent progression.
We hope this session empowers you with knowledge, confidence, and peace of mind.
Part 2. Navigating Atopic Dermatitis
Speaker: Dr. Lai-Ying Lu
Atopic dermatitis often brings a vicious cycle of itching, sleep disturbance, and stress. Dr. Lu will explain the science behind the "skin barrier" and "immune response." You will learn smart, science-backed strategies to care for sensitive skin and manage flare-ups effectively.
Part 3. Art of Healing: Your Skin Mood Diary
Speaker: Ms. Chi Wang, Psychologist
Beyond medical care, your mental well-being is our priority. Ms. Wang will lead a special therapeutic session where participants will create their own "Skin Mood Diary Card." Through writing and creativity, we invite you to acknowledge the hardships of the past year and find a moment of emotional release and relaxation.
